Investing in Research & Development
More efficiency thanks to state-of-the-art technology
In product development as well as in production, we have been improving protection of the environment constantly for years and ensuring better usage of resources. This includes, for example, measures such as condensing technology, heat pumps, ventilation systems with regenerative heat exchangers, as well as heat reclamation from compressed air as well as optimized heat insulation of buildings. In order to reduce power consumption, we use light-band systems and especially low-energy lights. This way, through the use of screw and turbo chillers, we have increased the effectiveness for cooling by 45% as compared to 1985.
Own large projects at Bosch for more climate protection
Large projects are also contributing to more sustainability at Bosch. Thus, the 30 kW photovoltaic system on the facade of the Bosch Thermotechnik central office generates enough current to serve the annual power needs of 30 households. Already today, in the German location in Blaichach, a 100-year-old hydroelectric power plant is producing environmentally-friendly current that meets half the demand and saves approximately 4,000 tons of CO2 each year. Thanks to investments of EUR 7.3 million for the modernization of the system, the output will soon be increased by another 50%. The German location in Murrhardt is also especially environmentally friendly: thanks to the use of the heat generated by the machines, in the winter approximately 80% of the power required for heating can be saved. In 2007, a 1,000 qm photovoltaic system was also put into operation. Another photovoltaic system will also be installed in the new Reutlingen semi-conductor plant in the longest-established German location.
